Diving in Thailand

All diving enthusiasts agree that Thailand is home to some of the most beautiful underwater sites in the world. The diversity of aquatic wildlife is incredibly rich. With just a mask and snorkel, you can easily observe parrotfish, clownfish, butterflyfish, and many other equally stunning species right at the surface!

Scuba diving opens up a world of breathtaking underwater landscapes. At just a few meters deep, you can encounter manta rays, turtles, leopard sharks, barracudas, and, with some luck, whale sharks and even dolphins. You’ll explore immense coral formations of incredible variety, delighting any photography enthusiast.

During your stay, you’ll also have the opportunity to earn diving certifications. The “PADI Open Water Diver” certification is internationally recognized and can be obtained in just a few days at very affordable prices.

The country’s best diving spots are located from the central region to the south, in the “Gulf of Thailand,” from Koh Chang to Koh Samui, as well as in the “Andaman Sea,” including Phuket, Koh Phi Phi, and the Similan Islands. The latter is considered one of the most beautiful dive spots in the world, offering crystal-clear water and a minimum temperature of 28°C, making it a diver’s paradise. The Similan Islands, located about 100 kilometers northwest of Phuket, offer a spectacular and unforgettable experience.

If you must choose between Phang Nga Bay, the Phi Phi Islands, and the Similan Islands, there’s no hesitation: the Similan Islands will leave you with the best memories of your trip. Here, you can explore coral gardens teeming with a diverse array of species still preserved from mass tourism (unfortunately often disrespectful of marine wildlife). This issue is currently evident on Koh Phi Phi, where authorities are even considering closing certain sites due to environmental degradation, coral damage, and the disappearance of fragile species. The constant traffic of large tourist boats further exacerbates the damage to already vulnerable ecosystems, compounded by the effects of climate change.
